We are currently learning from Pirkei Avot (Chapters of the fathers) which is 6 chapters from a Talmudic tractate. Pirkei Avot is the timeless wisdom and guide from the Talmudic sages to the Jewish people on how to live with faith, honor, integrity and more.

Course Instructor: Rabbi Yaakov Wolbe moved from Jerusalem to Houston to join the staff of TORCH as Director of Education and Outreach in 2012. In that capacity he has delivered hundreds of lectures, classes and workshops on a wide range of subjects including courses on Jewish History; Mussar (The Jewish philosophy of character improvement and ethical refinement); a deeper understanding of the meaning, ritual and practice of the Jewish holidays; Jewish Philosophy and Theology; the weekly Parsha; Jewish medical and legal Ethics and his favorite topic – Talmud. Through the Shalhevet Congregational Partnership of TORCH, Rabbi Wolbe thus far lectured at 16 Houston area congregations.
Rabbi Wolbe was born and raised in New York. At the age of 16 he began intensive Talmudic and Rabbinic training in The Yad Aharon Institute for Advanced Talmudic Scholarship in Jerusalem. After one year, Rabbi Wolbe transferred to the renowned Mir Yeshiva where he studied for additional three and a half years under the tutelage of Rabbi Asher Arieli. He then joined the Kollel Elyon at Aish HaTorah where he engaged in the writing and teaching of chaburas to elite Talmudic scholars on a regular basis. Rabbi Wolbe eventually joined the faculty of Aish HaTorah and taught a daily Talmud class for their Intermediate Division students, served as the expedited Mishnayos Instructor for Beis Midrash students and was a frequent lecturer at the Jewish Essentials Program geared towards beginners who do not have a strong background in traditional Jewish learning.
Rabbi Wolbe holds Rabbinic ordinations from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, Chief Justice of the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Jerusalem and Rabbi Hillel Weinberg, Rosh Yeshiva Aish HaTorah.
Rabbi Wolbe is married to Chaya Wolbe. They are the proud and frequently frazzled parents of Akiva, Yehoshua, Miriam, Shlomo and Yitzy.
